Why Everyone Should Travel

Image
Travelling is food for the soul. While some who belong to older generations find it as an unnecessary expense, most millenials have learned that travelling is more of a personal investment. Travelling gives you space to think outside the corporate/entrepreneurial world. It gives you a break from the recurring activities of work. It takes you away from the monotonous routine that's been giving no meaning in life. It makes you realize that there is more to life than just looking at the computer and documents the whole time. Travelling takes you outside your comfort zone and into unfamiliar territories. It gives you the opportunity to marvel at the beauty of mother nature or other urban jungles. It gives a new sense of awe and fulfillment. It gives you a wider perspective of the world which used to be boxed in just one city, region or country. Travelling builds stronger relationships. It allows people to personally know each other's weaknesses and strengths. Thus, it makes y

The Widow's Offering - A Gospel Reflection

Today's gospel is one of my favorite readings and is reminiscent of my Catholic school education. Gospel: Lk 21:1-4 -      Jesus looked up and saw rich people putting their gifts into the treasury of the temple. He also saw a poor widow, who dropped in two small coins. And he said, “Truly, I tell you, this poor widow put in more than all of them. For all of them gave an offering from their plenty; but she, out of her poverty, gave all she had to live on.” The story of the widow teaches us about generosity in proportions. Rich men were in the temple offering more in terms of monetary value while the poor widow offers perhaps the smallest amount of them all. However, Jesus points out that the widow has given more in terms of spiritual value than all of them for she has given all she had in order to live on. My Christian Life Education book depicts her carrying a child while humbly offering the two coins. She could have used it to buy food or other basic needs for her child. Bu

The Dictionary of Obscure Sorrows defines Anecdoche as: "A conversation in which everyone is talking about but nobody is listening, simply overlaying disconnected words like a game of Scrabble..."

Daily Reflections - Nov 14, 2016

I found myself staring blankly into space before writing this entry. I just came back from an amazing 3-day break. As soon as I came back to reality, life began to overwhelm me with so many things at hand. There are options to choose from, opportunities to turn down and decisions to be made. The future has never been more uncertain for me than ever. These are the times when I need to give myself some space and time to think. These are moments of discernment. During these times we find ourselves at the crossroad, at the turning point of our lives. But whatever confusion I am in now, I offer them to God. I pray that the Lord will guide me to choose the best path He has prepared for me. In Him, I put all my hope and trust.

Daily Reflections - Nov. 9, 2016

Sometimes, we have to let go of some opportunities because we value our relationships more than anything else. It's a sacrifice we make because we know our priorities. Compromising is never an easy thing but it is necessary. It's been a draining day for me. Calls have been made to finalize everything. God knows when the next opportunity will come along, if there's still one on the line.  Anyway, I'll probably just get myself some ice cream and sleep. I'll get over it soon enough.

Daily Reflections - Nov. 8, 2016

I was praying and thanking God this morning for the recent blessings He has given me. I was striving hard to pursue more opportunities because of some obligations. I was searching but I couldn't find the perfect answer. Yesterday, I got a call that I've been advised to expect a few months ago.  The past few months of waiting have actually made me forget that I've been waiting at all.  I was excited at the same time nervous. And when I realized how good the timing was, I could only think about God and His purpose for everything. He must be grinning at me saying 'I told you, just wait my child.' It's times like these when we are able to realize for ourselves what 'In God's time' means. We always hear it but we never know what it really is until we experience it. In many ways, God never fails to amaze me in his perfect timings. I feel humbled as I learn anew what patience and trust in His plans truly means. Thank You Lord. You are amazing.

The Giving Journal 2017

Image
Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf  has finally released four designs for their 2017 Giving Journal and I couldn't be more excited! I have always collected stamps for CBTL's Giving Journal since 2013. This year will be more special since my boyfriend will be collecting stamps with me. Yay! The Giving Journal has always been a great companion for me. It's where I write down personal notes or new ideas for my crafts. It helps me schedule my events, organize my thoughts and realign my journey once in a while. It also serves as a cheat sheet during meetings with the bosses. There are other journals out there but I find the Giving Journal's simple and functional design more suitable for my needs. Unlike previous years though, CBLT is nowhere near my workplace. It used to be beside our office (Abreeza) or a just few meters away (Ayala Cebu or High Street BGC). Nonetheless, it won't stop me from collecting stamps this season. Speaking of which, you only need 12 stamps to claim

Daily Reflections - Nov 4, 2016

It has been an exhausting week despite the fact that Monday and Tuesday have been holidays. We had a Friday deadline for our meeting. There were many items we had to finalize for consolidation. Our final presentation was today and it was quite nerve-wracking. Although there were some areas for improvement, we were relieved to hear a generally good feedback from everyone. Pressure is an inevitable part of work. Without which, we are not able to push ourselves beyond our limits. Pressure pushes us to think faster and do things better to achieve our goals. I'm glad that our team handled the pressure well. We were able to work together as a team to finish all the pending work within the given time. It is a good thing too that the week is now ending. We all need a good long rest after all the brain draining OTs the past few days. This weekend will definitely provide us the recharge we need to take on the new tasks for next week. TGIF!

Love is a Constant Choice

Being in love is one of the best feelings in the world. If you haven't been in love, or haven't had a real relationship before, you might not be able to relate to this post. Then I suggest you move on to the next blog. Anyway, I have been in a relationship for seven months now. It is a relatively young relationship. It has experienced a lot of first time moments, a few ups and downs and a couple of wonderful travels. I am quite excited for the adventures that are yet to come. On the other hand, I have friends who are or have been in long term relationships who would say to me that I should enjoy this stage while it lasts. They say that this is the 'honeymoon' stage of a relationship, one that could last for a year or more, depending on how fast the relationship matures. After which, the feeling of longing to be with each other begins to wane. Cracks would sometimes seep through the relationship. If not addressed properly, it could lead to serious relationship dama
