Heneral Luna Movie Review

Image
After the many comments I read in social media and discussions with friends who have seen the movie, I finally found time in my busy scehdule to watch the highly regarded historical Filipino movie, Henera Luna, by Jerrold Tarog. I must say, the cinematography is indeed superb, perhaps almost flawless. The script was fantastic, with lines that would bring fervor or humor to any scene. The actors were quite an ensemble, though it felt like it was only Arcillas, who played Heneral Luna, who had so much gravitas in the movie. The other characters were not as compelling, perhaps so as not to overshadow the main character of the movie. It was Arcillas' portrayal that fueled the movie, giving a true character to the hero we barely knew in history books. During the cabinet meeting, they are divided between those who want to be allies with the US and those who want to drive them away.

Weekly #ootd - Black Will Never Be Out of Style

I don't know why but my wardrobe is dominantly black. I'm not being gothic - I rather find it classic. Everything just pairs well with anything black. It is the best color when it comes to simple yet elegant corporate outfits. Whether it's the plain black dress or pencil skirt, it never goes out of style. So here my weekly #ootd collection with the ever fashionable black :)

I Still Have Time to Blog?!

With the super hectic schedule and travel I have for work, my friends were quite shocked upon learning that I recently created my personal blog. They can't believe that after long hours of travel and the usual OT, I still have time to blog. Well for me, it's a matter of 'Why not?'. There's always time for everything. Time for work, time for leisure and time to be idle. Blogging is something that I've been wanting to do but I didn't even have time to look up on how to create one. At some point, I learned that with the proper management and a little more determination, I can do the things I want, one step at a time. Blogging/writing gives me a different sense of fulfillment. There is joy in doing the things you are passionate about, whether it's teaching, cooking, dancing or playing an instrument. For me, blogging is the start of a different kind of commitment, a commitment to do and share the things I care and love, to share opinions on various life t

Looking Back

I guess when you've recently added a year to your age, you can't help but look back at the years you've spent living the 'future' you've always been looking forward to. It's true, what they say, how it seemed like yesterday when you were only 19 and now you're 24. A lot of things happened in those five years, a lot of tears, exams, broken hearts, time studies, interviews, meetings, presentations and food. Yes, I remember all the good food :) Looking back, I am thankful for the wonderful years I've been through. There were a handful of moments that I felt regret. But in the end I was thankful. Each circumstance, each decision, each chance I took has led me to this destination, my destiny. Each day, even if tough times have been tougher, I can only be more grateful. Quitting seemed an easy option but I thank God for the strength and resilience He has given me. Looking back allows you to move forward with an attitude of gratitude :)

The #fivesecondprayermovement

I've been posting these random prayers in my twitter with the hashtag  #fivesecondprayermovement. This idea came to me when I was travelling via airplane and I had so many worries with me. I found myself whispering a random prayer. It was brief and beautiful and it brought me relief and strength. Sometimes a small prayer is all we need. When I got my signal back, I posted that prayer on twitter, hoping to be able to share the meaning of that prayer to my friends and followers. There are many circumstances in day when we can say a prayer - when you want to pray for the begging man you pass by on the street, when you see the news about the Syrian refugees fleeing their countries because of war, or for the health of your parents before you leave the house. A five-second prayer will do. So here I am sharing this prayer movement, so that during some random times of our life, we won't forget to praise, ask for forgiveness or thank God for all He has given us. I encourage everyone

How my Search for the Perfect Lipstick Led me to Human ♥ Nature

Image
Lipstick is a must have for every woman. I never really accepted this fact until I started my corporate job. Basic makeup is required for the ladies and wearing lipstick is basic. Eventually, I learned more about makeup and its basic essentials. My biggest problem was really the lipstick. My lips are the type that would easily dry up, crack and sometimes bleed. I bought different brands and tried several tricks that never really worked for me. Even if it’s just a tinted lip balm, I would find myself biting off the peeling skin after two to three hours. And so I researched about lipsticks to look for the perfect one that would match my lips. In my research, I actually found out that there are many lipsticks in the market that are not safe since they contain toxic metals such as lead to brighten its colors. The accumulation of lead in the body due to wearing such lipsticks can lead to several ailments. Lipstick wears off because we unconsciously bite our lips or it transfe
