#KaonSerye: Yuyu Cafe and Dessert Shop

My trip to Tagum City is never complete without dropping by Yuyu Cafe and Dessert Shop for a quick snack and pasalubong. Tagum's  homegrown cafe is located along Tagum National Highway, in front of Gaisano Mall. The shop offers a variety of artisan cakes, pastries for pasalubong, hearty meals, and refreshing drinks.

Their cakes are well-crafted and taste as impressive as it looks. The last time Keen and I were able to go to Yuyu was with his parents. We were passing by Tagum and I recommended that we take a short afternoon break at Yuyu. We ordered some of my favorites and tried new ones.

We ordered my favorite slice of Praline cake, one of their best-sellers. One slice is comprised of delectable chocolate layers of cake and mousse with a surprisingly crunchy base. Its golden accents makes it looks Instagram worthy too.

Another favorite of mine is their Fresh Fruit Tart. This beautiful pastry doesn't easily crumble unlike other fruit tarts I've had. The combination of fresh sweet and sour fruits taste perfectly with the custard filling.

Here we also tried their Mochaccino and Mango Charlotte. The Mochaccino sponge cake had just the right amount of sweetness which Keen's mom liked a lot. The Mango Charlotte tasted lovely as well. It may not have been at par with the Fruit Tart but it was nonetheless delicious.

Based on my previous visits, the Coco Pandan and Purple Yam slices were really good too. They matched perfectly well with their coffee.

Their prices were not bad either. The Praline costs P105 while the Fruit Tart was only P68. The Mochaccino and Mango Charlotte were only P80 and P70 respectively, which is the typical average price of their solo sized cakes.

I'm not sure though if their prices have changed but this was based on a recent trip this year. For reservations, advance bulk orders, or booking, you can contact them at 655-6731.

It's a long travel to Tagum City because of the traffic so I hope Yuyu Cafe and Dessert Shop will soon open a branch in Davao City. It will surely be a wonderful addition to the growing food scene in the city. Until then, I guess I'll have to wait for another opportunity to go back to Tagum and eat at Yuyu's again.
