#KaonSerye: Chez Nous by Chippens

Keen and I were thrilled since we were finally back at Chez Nous where we celebrated our 13th monthsary last May 2.

Chez Nous has been one of our favorite restaurants in Davao. It is also one of our most recommended restaurants in the city. So far, all the feedback from our recommendations has always been positive.

Since it opened early last year, it has created quite a buzz in social media for its consistently good reviews. Their innovative cuisine, which aims to 'Think Global, Eat Local', mainly delivers international dishes made primarily from local ingredients.

From our latest visit, we noticed that they have revamped their menu, keeping their bestsellers while making room for new dishes. They've increased some of the prices but they remain reasonable for their taste and quality.

We ordered our staple Seared Tuna Nicoise Salad. Everything was satisfyingly fresh from the greens to the tuna. The excellent combination of textures and tastes made it a refreshing first course.

Keen never fails to order the Rib-eye Steak with Mushroom Gravy in Chez Nous. It's been a while since our last visit and he definitely missed their perfectly cooked medium well steak. Their mushroom gravy and fries complemented the meat very well. Plain rice or mashed potatoes are other alternatives for the sides.

Since I was craving for pasta, I ordered their classic Carbonara. The pasta was creamy and flavorful with just the right amount of bacon. I just added a dash of Tabasco for that spicy kick I love.

We also recommend the following dishes based on our previous visits:

1. Starters: Poutine - Thrice cooked fries with gravy and melted mozzarella
2. Main Course: Pan Seared Salmon with Potato Crab Cake - the name says it all
3. Dessert: Triple Layer Chocolate Mousse - a heavenly slice of chocolate mousse with vanilla ice cream

I hope Chez Nous continues to grow its menu and market. It's food, brand, and location has a lot of potential. Try them out at Padre Gomez St., just a few meters away from Roxas Ave., from 9:30am to 9pm.
