My Top 3 Waterfalls in South Cebu

Cebu is one of the most well-endowed islands in the Philippines. Aside from its pristine beaches and rich historical destinations, the famous Visayan island has at least 90 known waterfalls as listed by Pinoy Travel Freak (http://www.pinoytravelfreak.com/2015/09/full-list-of-waterfalls-in-cebu.html).

South Cebu, in particular, is prominently blessed with these amazing cascading bodies of water that will leave you inspired by mother nature's beauty. Since there's usually limited time and resources to visit all of them, here's my top 3 must-see waterfalls in South Cebu:

1. Tumalog Falls

Tumalog falls is located in Oslob which is also famous for its whale shark watching activities. Among the three falls I am naming here, Tumalog falls is the most majestic one for me. The descending body of water cascades and scatters into layers of rock and foliage that eventually falls down a single pool. The pool's depth depends on the season if there's enough or little water coming from the top. Getting to Tumalog falls is relatively easy. From the drop-off point going to the falls, you only need a few minutes of steep hike to get to Tumalog falls.

2. Aguinid Falls

Aguinid Falls is located in Samboan. There will be a guide at the entrance of the falls to explain and assist you from levels 0-5 of the falls. At level five, as seen from the second picture above, there is also a pool filled with small fishes that will clean and massage your feet after the tedious climb. But after resting for a while at level 5, our group wanted more adventure so the guide led us all the way to levels 6-8. It's not recommended for the faint-hearted but it's definitely worth the climb.

3. Kawasan Falls

The famous Kawasan falls is located in Badian. My boyfriend and I took the popular canyoneering adventure package which treks the connected bodies of water from Alegria to Badian. The end of the canyoneering adventure is in Kawasan falls. You can jump at the third or second tier of the falls which could be as high as 65-70 feet. This is one amazing experience you shouldn't miss.

Just in case you need some help going to these waterfalls, I've plotted their locations in the map below. Enjoy chasing waterfalls in Cebu!
