1st Year Work Anniversary in VXI

Image
Today marks my first year in VXI Global. It is my third company in my five years of corporate career. The first few months were typically the challenging months. Trying to learn new skills, having someone under you, and immersing yourself in a new working environment were some of the things I needed to adjust to right away. Just when I was getting more settled at work, more changes and challenges came along the way. Tougher decisions had to be made. Paradigms had to shift and adaptation was key. But more than those work related challenges, I underwent one of my toughest medical trials in my life. I had to take a leave for a month because of my swollen knee. And it didn't stop at that. A few weeks after, I got hospitalized again because of pneumonia. Then it was followed by a dental operation for my impacted tooth. Thankfully, VXI's HMO was able to cover most of my medical expenses. I am also very grateful for my family and colleagues for understanding and suppor...

To Be Empty Again

The past few weeks, or perhaps months, have been quite a struggle for me. My physical health has been tested again and again. And so were my principles in life. And perhaps even my pride. I continue to struggle with repetitive frustrations. My heart could only take in so much heartbreak at a time. I feel so disappointed that I couldn't understand why all my efforts have failed me. And now I could be struggling with a greater challenge in life. I am in tears like a little girl because my fear always came first. I fear that I may not be as strong as people think I am, that I'm just a helpless terrified girl who was too naive to see the world for what it is. I fear failure, like most people do, and the great disappointments that came with it. When I was younger, I somehow knew what I wanted. I was independent and strong willed. But some unfortunate years have taken away my optimism. Now, I couldn't even cross the bridge without having someone to hold. I have lost a lot o...

Happy Valentine's Day!

Image
This is a personal post for my fiancé James Keen. Babe, thank you for the wonderful night. I secretly hoped you'd take me to Chez Nous for our date because of their seven course meal. Hahaha. But when they announced that they were fully booked a few hours after they posted their Valentine's promo, I never expected you'd be able to get us a table. Apparently, you already reserved way ahead. You really knew what I wanted. So thank you so much! Thank you for making each day special. Even if we fight sometimes, you always make sure that we patch up before we sleep. Thank you for always looking after me, your sometimes sickly and forgetful girlfriend. Thank you because you always support and believe in me, even if most of the time I doubt myself. From the bottom of my heart babe, I love you! Happy Valentine's Day ❤️ *similar post from my IG :)

Getting a Health Certificate in Davao City

Image
Every person who is employed in any business establishment in Davao City is required to get a health certificate, also known as health card, from the City Health Office (CHO). From January to March this year, the CHO of Davao City has opened its satellite operations in the 2nd floor of Felcris Centrale Mall, fronting Land Transportation Office. CHO caters to a huge number of applications and renewals every day since it started last January. So expect a really long line if you come in later than 12 noon. Make sure to be in Felcris Centrale before the mall opens at 10am. Some people queue as early as 6-7am just so they could finish early or within the morning. Also, it's best to prepare the requirements ahead for a smooth application process. The requirements for a Health Certificate are as follows: 1. Application Form - The form is usually given upon queuing so always bring a pen so as to accomplish the said form. 2. Community Tax Certificate (CTC) - Also known as the Cedula...

My Top Picks for 2018 Valentines Celebration

Image
It is February again and Valentine’s Day is just two weeks away. Making this day extra special for our significant other is always a must. And since this coming Valentine’s Day falls on a Wednesday, the most feasible plan would be romantic dinner date. It is best to make early preparations, especially on hotel and restaurant reservations, since the best ones usually get fully booked a week ahead. So far, here are my top recommendations for that romantic dinner date this Valentine’s Day here in Davao City. 1. Misto at Seda Abreeza Seda Abreeza's will be having a movie-inspired dinner set-up made more romantic with harmonies of love songs for their Valentine’s Date Night. Their Misto Restaurant, which was hailed as one of the best restaurants for 2018 by Philippine Tatter, will be offering an exquisite 3-course dinner featuring their signature Angus Roast Beef. https://www.facebook.com/sedaabreezahotel/ Seda's Date Night costs P1,680 nett per person. Early Morning Thoughts: Sunrise

Image
I just came home from my night shift and I couldn't quite sleep yet. So I decided to write my blog entry for the week. I used to admire sunsets more. I love staring at the poignant rays of tangerine light as it fades into the darkness of dusk. But for the past few days, I've been seeing the sunrise before I go home. Now I love how the first few rays of the sun slowly appear in the horizon, how the sky transitions from dark to pale blue. I love to see the how the faint stars fade away to make way for the brightest one, how the cold wind is replaced by the soft warmth of the sun. The new day begins and I am just about to end my cycle. As the day grows warmer, people wake up and it is my turn to sleep. And after I wake from my slumber, the sun will be setting already. Night will fall again. Lights will be turned off and people will turn to their blankets for warmth and comfort. But for me, and many others like me, the day has just begun. View of the sunrise from our o...

#KaonSerye: Selera Sets at SM

Image
It was the first weekend of the year and many were still celebrating the season of Christmas. After all, it was technically Christmas until the Sunday of the Three Kings. Sadly for Keen and me, holidays were quickly over and the usual work days have already resumed. But that also means our typical Saturdates and #KaonSerye are back! And since it is part of my 2018 resolution to blog every week, what better way to get things started than to blog again about our love for food. Restaurants were filled with friends and families having belated reunions on 2018's first Saturday. After much discussion and strolling, we found ourselves seated in Selera. Good thing we were able to get a table before more than half of the restaurant was reserved by one group. Although Selera has been in SM for a while, it was our first time to eat there. It was easily dwarfed by other restaurants such as Hukad, Kuya J's and Mesa. The restaurant was relatively small but it was comfortable and very m...
